The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Damascus, Phuong Piao said that his country's government is doing its best to control the spread of the Corona virus and reduce the death rate as a priority, noting that his country is communicating with the Syrian embassy in Beijing to ensure the safety of the Syrians residing in China.

During a press conference held today at the embassy headquarters in Damascus to explain his country's measures to control the spread of the Corona virus, the Chinese ambassador drew the evacuation of 27 Syrians from Wuhan via Iranian airlines and performed the necessary checks for them before returning to Syria, stressing taking precautionary measures for the embassy staff coming from Beijing to Damascus.

The ambassador pointed to the permanent coordination of his country's government with the Syrian embassy in Beijing to check on the health of the Syrian community, noting that until February 2, sixty-one people, including twenty-one Chinese, and the rest of the Syrians were subject to close monitoring and examination every day.

Ambassador Phuong said: Despite the seriousness of the disease, the facts confirm that the cases of recovery are much greater than the deaths, pointing to his country's confidence in the capabilities and expertise sufficient to control it at an early date by relying on the epidemic control system that was established after the outbreak of the SARS virus in 2003 and the strong technological and material foundations of China .

The Chinese ambassador stressed that there is no cause for anxiety and panic, as Corona is treatable and preventive, according to the World Health Organization, which recommended not to take excessive measures, but there are countries that have ignored this and have banned travel, stopped trade and evacuated nationals, expressing thanks to Syria for its express support to China in this regard.
