2020-02-07T18:43:22.662Z

Two people, including a CGT union representative, taken into custody after the Friday morning blockade of a dumpster garage in Aubervilliers as part of the strike against the pension reform, were released at the end of the day, according to the CGT. The union delegate and a teacher researcher in sociology, present on the blocking of this site where the dump trucks of the city of Paris are parked, had been arrested and placed in police custody for " contempt, rebellion and violence ", according to a police source. According to an activist from Paris environmental disobedience present on the spot, the blockage had started around 6:00 am Friday morning. The police intervened to unblock the site at the request of the city of Paris, and tension rose with a chase at the end of which the delegate was handcuffed to the ground " brutally ", according to this source. The researcher stepped in and was also taken to the Aubervilliers police station.

" We systematically call on the police in the event of a site blockage ," Paul Simondon, in charge of cleanliness in the city of Paris, told AFP. " The mayor of Paris has written to the Prime Minister asking him to guarantee the proper functioning of municipal services ," he said. Five percent of the city's garbage collectors were on strike on Thursday for the day of action against pension reform, and " this is not a rate that prevents collection from taking place, " said the municipal official. He attributed the garbage cans overflowing on the sidewalks to " the congestion due to the strike in the incineration sites of Syctom ", which manages the waste of 84 municipalities of Île-de-France. According to Régis Vieceli, secretary general of the CGT cleaning union in the city of Paris, 20% of garbage collectors are on strike. He was unable to say on Friday evening whether legal proceedings would be given to the two police officers.

The prefecture of police ordered the requisition of personnel to restart the ovens at the Issy-les-Moulineaux and Ivry-sur-Seine sites arrested since January 23. According to Julien Lambert, CGT-Energy representative, filtering of the collection trucks took place on Friday morning in Issy-les-Moulineaux. At Ivry, 48 employees were notified of their requisition Friday at 6:20 am to begin the maneuvers necessary to restart the ovens, which should take two days, he said. The garbage collectors claim the maintenance of their anticipated retirement conditions five years before the legal date, because of the arduousness of their profession. " The hardship is real, but it is not the city of Paris which determines the conditions of retirement of the agents, " argues Paul Simondon, referring responsibility to the government.
