Even Mayor Moritz Sappl only noticed when the work was in full swing. There was only clarification on Thursday after the responsible clerks were previously ill or on vacation. “These are jobs that are really necessary. The wooded areas on the street must be maintained. But that has nothing to do with clearing, ”says Jürgen Neidhardt, head of the Wolfratshausen road maintenance department. On the one hand, there are a number of sick trees along the state road, mainly as reported several times, Eschen, which would have to be felled for traffic safety reasons. This could only happen in the winter months from October to the end of February. "This is prescribed by the Nature Conservation Act," explains Neidhardt. When the birds breed, we can't cut anything away. The same applies, for example, to the perennials between the bike path and the state road. The shrubs were "put on stick" during the campaign last week, as the jargon says. Which means: The shrubs, which sometimes sprout one meter fifty to two meters high, have been trimmed to 20 centimeters. "Of course that looks blatant at first," admits the road maintenance chief. "But they are growing again. You will see in spring, it will turn green again. "

Such "woody measures" would be carried out regularly throughout the district, says Neidhardt. "We can't let a primeval forest grow." A so-called "maintenance cut" is therefore planned every ten to 15 years. For example, it was recently made on Wolfratshauser Berg. Next, the bushes and shrubs on the motorway feeder are to be “put on stock” because some of them already protrude into the road.
