The Executive Board of the World Health Organization today rejected a proposal for the Israeli occupation to cancel the item entitled "Health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories including East Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan" from the agenda of the next session of the World Health Assembly after its failure to obtain a majority as a result of opposition from 15 countries in exchange for the support of seven countries .

Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Hossam El-Din Ala, condemned in a speech before the Council's 147th session, the Israeli occupation authorities' continued refusal to allow the World Health Organization to fulfill its mandate to review the health conditions of the Syrian citizens in the occupied Syrian Golan.

Both called on the organization to send a field mission unconditionally by the occupying force to assess the situation and clarify the obstacles that impede the access of Syrian citizens under occupation to appropriate health care, including obstacles resulting from restrictions on their movement and ways to develop a sustainable health system in the occupied Syrian Golan in implementation of decisions World Health Assembly.

Ambassador Ala stressed that the evaluation should include monitoring the health and environmental damages resulting from the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to establish wind turbines to generate electric energy in the agricultural lands belonging to the Syrian citizens in the occupied Syrian Golan and their negative effects on their health.

Ala stressed that the continuous Israeli attempts to undermine the "health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and the occupied Syrian Golan" on the agenda of the World Health Assembly, aim at the content and timing of legitimizing the Israeli occupation, which continues to violate UN resolutions and relevant decisions issued by the association. Global health seeks to evade the obligations imposed by international humanitarian law on "Israel" as the occupying power and to obscure its practices that violate the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people and the people of the Golan The occupier is irrigated.

Ala called on the Executive Council to reject the Israeli proposals aimed at removing the said item from the agenda of the next session of the World Health Assembly and to put an end to the manipulation practiced by the occupation government and its attempts to abuse its current membership in the Council.

Today's vote confirms the support of the Executive Council to maintain this item that deals with the practices and restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities on the right of the Palestinian people and the population of the occupied Syrian Golan to obtain appropriate medical care and its rejection of attempts to manipulate the occupation entity to pass its goals aimed at perpetuating the Israeli occupation of Arab lands From 1967 to the imposition of its illegal decisions to annex Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan, in violation of relevant Security Council resolutions.
