The preparations have been dragging on for years, and finally it continues: In their most recent meeting, Seefeld's municipal councilors for the "Seefeld shopping market" area on Hauptstrasse decided to draw up a development plan using the accelerated procedure.

Seefeld - As reported, the existing Edeka supermarket is to be renewed and expanded. This extension will not be so obvious from the main street, because the extension is behind the old town hall in the current parking lot and is around 80 centimeters lower. There are 14 parking spaces under the extension, and three apartments will be built on the building. The development plan for the project should be completed as soon as possible.

As no environmental impact assessment is necessary, an accelerated procedure would be possible, explained Stefan Futterknecht at the recent council meeting. The land use plan will be adjusted. The municipal councils had no objection to the contrary. "This is one of the most important development plans for our community," said Sebastian Haberkorn (CSU) and urged "please use all acceleration options". He thinks the project is "extremely important". Access and the creation of parking spaces will be discussed in upcoming meetings.

Walther Kloiber, owner of the building in which Edeka is located, among other things, is pleased that it continues. Kloiber, once the owner of a successful clothing factory, has been involved in the project since 2016. He doesn't mind that it took so long. "Life is not a dream concert." He is convinced that the expansion of the supermarket and the construction of the apartments "are a huge win for the place". Starting with the parking lots, which are known to be in short supply in the heart of Seefeld. 68 are required by the authorities for the project, "I could make 100". Kloiber does not intend to do that, because the whole ensemble should also look good.

He is very grateful for the support from the three mayors and the municipal councils, he emphasizes again and again “They have always wanted this and always worked 100 percent for it. Without them it would not have been possible. ”Kloiber blames the jungle of bureaucracy and requirements for the fact that it took so long. "This is both a curse and a blessing when it comes to housing construction."

If the building applications go through now, construction could begin in autumn. The current Edeka will be completely gutted. "Overall, it is a new building," explains Kloiber, who has signed a 15-year contract with the supermarket operator. The 74-year-old is confident that everything is going well now. "I want to do it now."
