Housing Minister Julien Denormandie will not be a candidate in the municipal elections in March, he announced on Saturday 8 February. " I am not on a list, " said the minister on France Inter.

He had not previously formally excluded from being a candidate, specifying at the end of 2019 that he would only be so if he had personal ties in the city concerned.
Julien Denormandie explained on Saturday that he was making the choice to go and support the candidates of the presidential majority in person in the cities where he considers it possible to elect a representative of the National Rally.
" I was in Dreux, I was in Nord-Pas-de-Calais these last ten days ", he detailed.
Three ministers have so far declared their candidacy as head of the list: Prime Minister Edouard Philippe in Le Havre, Minister of Public Accounts Gérard Darmanin in Tourcoing, and Minister of Culture Frank Riester in Coulommiers.

Others must also be candidates, but without having specified their position on the list or by having already indicated that they would not be in the lead: Sébastien Lecornu (Local authorities) in Vernon in the Eure, Geneviève Darrieussecq (Veterans ) in Mont-de-Marsan in the Landes, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari (Transport) in Limoges, Christelle Dubos (Solidarités) in Sadirac in Gironde, Marc Fesneau (relations with the Parliament) in Marchenoir in Loir-et-Cher or Marlène Schiappa (Gender equality) and Agnès Pannier-Runacher (Economy and finance) in Paris.
