At present, the three quarantine centres in Hong Kong, namely Madam MacLehose Resort, Lei Yue Men Park Resort and Po Leung Kuk Jockey Club Pak Tam Chung Holiday Camp, provide a total of 97 units for isolation. However, as the number of camps is almost full, it has been pointed out earlier that the government will increase the number of units in the form of modular housing in the three centers and the Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Center. Chief Executive Lin Zheng Yue'e also said at a recent press conference that the Development Bureau will study the use of vacant land to build quarantine facilities.

Authorities earlier stated that they intended to use Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Centre and Mei Foo Tsui Shan House as quarantine centres. (Profile picture)

It is reported that the Architectural Services Department has contacted the industry regarding quarantine facilities since the Lunar New Year, and consulted on the construction of composite houses for medical purposes by assembly and synthesis. It is expected to provide 800 beds. It is reported that the government expressed "the sooner the better" for the completion time, and asked the industry to submit design documents and estimated construction time first to speed up the construction. It is reported that the construction time of a container house generally takes about one to two months, but the approval process is expected to be quite time-consuming.

According to figures released by the government a few days ago, as of Sunday (9th) morning, only 11 units of the three quarantine centers were unused. It is planned to open the Rao Zongyi Cultural Center as a quarantine center next week, and add 53 units.
