For the past 17 years, the PA chairman has been on the wrong path, sometimes the fight in Israel seems to be his goal. • Olmert should give up on meeting

Even before the press conference at which President Trump's Centennial Plan was unveiled, Abbas had already planned the trip to New York. This is the path of the "leader" who has been traveling in the wrong path for 17 years and spends unremitting efforts in barren debates in the UN. Sometimes the struggle in Israel in the international arena is his true goal, not the promotion of the interests of the Palestinians he purports to represent.

Soon, when he steps down from the stage, Abu Mazen will be remembered as the greatest peace defender in history. Years of historic opportunities, and at the height of the Centennial Plan, were thrown in the bin for UN speeches and political terrorism against Israel all over the world. Those who devote their energies to inciting Israel, educating children for hatred and paying tens of millions of shekels to terrorist families cannot be called peace partners.

Hundreds of anti-Israeli resolutions have been passed during the past decade under the General Assembly, most led by the Palestinians and under the leadership of Abu Mazen. In those years, the latter agreed to discuss with the Israeli prime minister only once. You read right, once. There is no doubt that as long as Abu Mazen heads the Palestinian Authority, there is no feasibility of a political process.

Last night we proved again that the rules of the United Nations game have changed. After much efforts by Israel against many countries, the condemnation of the US deal has been postponed. When the PA chairman enters the Security Council today, he will not be welcomed by winners, as opposed to the past. The international community already has seven denunciations and expects direct dialogue between the parties.

Olmert tends to boast about every stage he negotiated with the PA chairman, but even the close relationship between the two did not change Abu Mazen's path. Olmert's far-reaching proposal was also negative. Abu Mazen also refused the proposal and chose to denigrate Israel in the UN. Despite this, the former prime minister chooses to back political terrorism during the week when the nations of the world turn their gaze to the State of Israel.

We must not strengthen the hand of those who reward terrorism and violence against our people. Olmert should gather himself, stand by his country, and not slap her face to the world. A statement in front of the world cameras will not help any Israeli or Palestinian, as the way to resolve the conflict does not pass in New York but only in Jerusalem and Ramallah.
