Donald Trump shows his electoral priorities in his draft budget

Donald Trump does not have many illusions about the chances of adoption of his budget plan for 2021. But he obviously takes this opportunity to detail, in the middle of the campaign for the presidential elections of November 2020, the ideal spending program federal public services.

Without fear of shocking moderate voters, the White House is considering increases in funding for the Department of Defense and NASA, to the detriment of the Environmental Protection Agency, food aid and housing for the poorest people.

As in previous years, Donald Trump abandoned any ambition to reduce the deficit significantly in the short term, contrary to the tradition of the Republicans. If his budgetary priorities were approved by Congress, which is unthinkable because of the Democratic majority in the House of Representatives, the deficit would simply fall to $ 966 billion, against $ 1 trillion.
