(CNN Spanish) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic works on the return to the country of at least five Dominican students who are trapped in Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak.

In a letter sent to CNN, the university students expressed concern about the lack of concrete plans for repatriation, after Thursday a plane from Brazil that traveled to Wuhan to look for its citizens had no space to transfer them.

This Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinates an agreement in alliance with other nations to repatriate them on a charter flight, according to the spokesman of the entity César Duvernay. So far, the Foreign Ministry has not revealed the country, nor the day on which the aircraft could leave.

Through letters, the five students expressed concern about the situation in Wuhan, since although they claim to be in good health, the circumstances are getting worse. “Obtaining food and drinking water is not as easy as before. In my case I have to take a public bicycle and walk more than 30 minutes to reach a super (market) with a variety of products and affordable prices, ”wrote Antonio Mercado.

He also said that the great challenge is to move food by bicycle because public transport is not working in Wuhan.

CNN contacted the relatives and friends of Dominican students in China, but they preferred not to give statements until their relatives are in Dominican territory.
