Sunday was a sad, very sad day for Argentine car racing. In Concepcion everything was joy, color and enthusiasm for the start of a new season of the TC Mouras, until everything turned into stupor, anguish, tears and without the roar of the engines.
Everything turned gray and sad when Patricio González, one of the banderilleros of the category, was rammed by Nicolás Ghirardi (Chevrolet) and died. Leave your passion for cars, football and batucada. To his girlfriend and two children.
The fatal event occurred as soon as the race began. On the third lap, the driver and his car confused and, at more than 200 kilometers per hour, went to where Gonzalez was, who did not have time to react or protect himself. The young 31-year-old assistant was treated at the scene and then taken to the Hospital to save him. But no.
Two other similar accidents occurred during 2019 and Gonzalez's death revived the controversy over race safety. Before this hard news, several pilots were moved in their social networks.
González was from Concepción del Uruguay and had a lifetime ahead. The track assistant in the competitions organized by the Association Road Tourism Brokers (ACTC) was a couple for a year and had two children from another previous relationship.

Last year he finished his secondary studies. He demanded time, but the effort was worth it and he was proud of what he got. In addition to being a banderillero, he searched them for a living: he was a gasman, electrician and plumber.
Patricio González had three great passions: football, batucada and cars. In relation to the round, he played in Almagro and Rivadavia from hometown and was a fan of River, which, in recent times, gave him several joys.
For 10 years he has been leading batucadas in Concepción del Uruguay and since October 2019 he was part of the Sound of Patch of the Comparsa of the Federal Shot Club, Ará-Yeví, winner of the Carnival of Gualeguaychú in the 2013,2017,2018 and 2019 editions.
Despite the 70 kilometers that separated him from Gualeguaychú, Patricio traveled two or three times a week to rehearse with the rest of his teammates and to be present at Carnival nights. Those who knew him, stand out for the humility and joy with which he faced life.
Leonel Stefani, batucada director of the Ará-Yeví troupe, spoke with Clarín and told how González was: "He was a very cheerful and funny guy. He was always predisposed, he was passionate about what he did so much which is the percussion as in motoring, which he also liked very much. He left everything to come with us. He was always with a smile and always pulled forward. That made us want him a lot. "
Going to the races was not just a job for him. I enjoyed it and much. Gonzalez liked iron. When he didn't have to fulfill his role as a banderillero, he went to the racetracks and always made strength for Ford to win.
It was hard days for those who knew Patricio, for car racing and for his batucada teammates, who said goodbye to him once the news was released.
