PS official attacked in 2017: the prosecution requests a trial for the deputy El Guerrab

The Paris public prosecutor's office requested in mid-December the correctional of the former LREM MP M'jid El Guerrab, who had assaulted the head of PS Boris Faure in two times with a motorcycle helmet.

In its final indictment, the Paris public prosecutor's office demanded a trial against M'jid El Guerrab for violence with a weapon by destination which resulted in total incapacity for work exceeding eight days, a crime for which he faces up to 3 years of imprisonment and a fine of 45,000 euros. In its indictment, the prosecution reports "various testimonies (which) agree on the extreme violence of the blows" carried by M'jid El Guerrab. The final decision concerning the holding of a possible trial now belongs to the investigating judge in charge of the investigation.

On August 30, 2017, in Paris, Boris Faure, then first PS secretary of the Federation of French nationals abroad, was struck on the head with two helmet blows by M'jid El Guerrab, then LREM deputy for French citizens 'foreign. He had to be operated on in an emergency during the night, his vital prognosis having been "engaged" according to medical expertise. The two men fed a litigation born from the departure at the end of 2016 of the PS of M'jid El Guerrab which joined La République en Marche.

"Mr. El Guerrab responded to a violence which was made to him. He bitterly regrets it and he apologized to Mr. Faure during the confrontation, ”reacted his lawyer Yassine Yakouti. M'jid El Guerrab had thus filed a complaint in return for "deliberate violence against a person charged with a mission of public service and contempt", ensuring that Boris Faure had twisted a wrist and "insulted" him. The deputy also denounced "death threats" coming from Boris Faure, the latter having admitted to wishing the "political death" of his opponent. Faced with outcry, M'jid El Guerrab had resigned from the presidential party without giving up his parliamentary mandate, despite the urgent calls from his camp.
