Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, affirmed his country's readiness to work with the international community to find a solution to the Palestinian issue.
"Russia supports a just solution to the Palestinian issue on the basis of the relevant international resolutions which stipulate the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of 1967 with Jerusalem as its capital," Nebenzia said during a session of the UN Security Council today.
Nebenzia pointed out that the United States will not be able to solve the Palestinian issue without the consent of the Palestinian side and said that "the deal of the century, regardless of the views on it, drew attention to the need to settle it, but we are convinced that this requires concerted efforts by the international community to formulate a just and stable solution."
Nipenzia said that the efforts of the international Quartet, which is the only mechanism recognized by the UN Security Council, to continue to solve the Palestinian issue, should be intensified.
