When a father, mother or spouse is in need of care, the life of their relatives often changes completely. Now those affected should at least have it a little easier.
Berlin (dpa) - People in need of care and their relatives are to receive money from long-term care insurance more easily according to a new proposal from the federal government.
For this, the care representative Andreas Westerfellhaus proposed in a concept that the sometimes confusing services are bundled.
The money for nursing and care services is to flow into a new nursing budget. This should make it easier for those affected to avail themselves of the application. Advisors, so-called co-pilots, who make regular home visits should help. If you do not exhaust the benefits, you should automatically receive half of the unused money.
A second pool of money should primarily benefit relatives: the relief budget. The money is to be used if relatives who are caring for the child are to be relieved by a temporary stay in a home.
Today, many affected people would be overwhelmed by a jungle of benefits and application requirements, Westerfellhaus said in his paper. Many did not fully assert their claims.
