There was a tragic accident on Wednesday afternoon (February 12th, 2020) in the Zennern district of Wabern in the Schwalm-Eder district (Northern Hesse). According to the police, a 50-year-old man was killed in a fall from the roof of a house.

The 50-year-old from Finsterwalde, which is located in southern Brandenburg, was busy working on the roof when - according to the initial investigations - he probably slid and fell about eight meters below the surface. According to the police, the man was working on sealing the chimney of the house when the accident happened.
The Homberg criminal police are currently investigating the exact cause of the roofer's fall. In addition, the Office for Occupational Safety and Health is involved in the investigation, the police said.

Almost a year ago there was a fall from the roof in the Werra-Meißner district in northern Hesse. A man had been seriously injured. He had fled from police officers - and then dropped four meters.
The man was the father of a family of five refugees. She lived in a shared accommodation in Frieda and was to be flown to Spain. Around 4:00 p.m., the police knocked on the family's apartment door. When the officers entered the apartment, the 32-year-old father fled through the bedroom to the roof of the house.
A man had also died in a fall from the roof in Kassel. The 18-year-old fell from the roof terrace of an apartment building in the Vorderer West district. The young man had deliberately overcome the railing. Nevertheless, the police assumed an accident.
