Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro reaffirmed yesterday his interest in talking with his colleague Alberto Fernández soon , he confirmed that the first meeting between the two presidents will be on March 1 in Montevideo.

Bolsonaro also said that if his country's economic team can help Argentina in its negotiations with the IMF, it will do so, since it wants "a strong and non-Bolivarian business partner."

On a hectic Thursday night in which he announced a mini ministerial reform in which he changed his head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Bolsonaro spoke live on a social network.

In that context, he spoke with praise of the results of the meeting he held on Wednesday with Argentine Foreign Minister Felipe Solá in the Planalto Palace. Solá had been accompanied by Ambassador Daniel Scioli and the Secretary of Strategic Affairs, Gustavo Beliz.

“In the week I received the Argentine Foreign Minister, Felipe Solá. It was a very quiet, friendly, friendly meeting, had many moments of informality. He talked about the economic problems of Argentina. Argentina is seeking Brazil's support with the IMF. What our economic team here in Brazil can help Argentina will help.

After all, Argentina is the largest trading partner in South America, I think the fourth in the world, and we are interested in Argentina being strong, ”said Bolsonaro.

Then, the ultraconservative president said he wants a strengthened Argentina "defending freedom and democracy" and said that "I closed a commitment" with Solá that "on March 1, now, I will be in the assumption of the president of Uruguay and we are going to separate the time so that I can talk with the president of Argentina, Mr. Fernández ”.

Bolsonaro added that “if God wants everything, he will be doing very well” and reiterated that what Brazil wants is not “a Bolivarian South America, but a strong Argentina, a strong Uruguay, a Paraguay, a strong Brazil. That's what we want".

Also in reference to the summit with Alberto Fernández, Bolsonaro said that "God willing we hope to understand each other very well in that first meeting of ours with the Argentine president on Uruguayan soil."

Previously, in dialogue with journalists at the door of the official residence of La Alvorada, Bolsonaro praised the meeting he held with Solá, indicating that the Argentine Foreign Minister had brought him “good news: he is determined to approve the Mercosur-Union agreement European and we have other agreements also going, with Japan, Korea. It was a very healthy conversation. ”

Bolsonaro also said that "keeping the right proportions, Argentina is worse than us" and indicated that "we want to see Argentina grow."

The president of Brazil, meanwhile, slipped criticism of Pope Francis, who yesterday received former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and who attributed favorable statements to an internationalization of the Amazon, a position that historically hurts the sensitivity of the Brazilian government and military , in all ages.

“Pope Francis said yesterday that the Amazon belongs to him, from all over the world. By coincidence I was yesterday with the Argentine ambassador (by Solá). Look, the Pope will be Argentine, but God is Brazilian, ”Bolsonaro concluded.
