The Centre for Health Protection stated that the two new cases of veterans' disease included a 56-year-old male patient living in Choi Hi House, Choi Fuk Estate, and a 62-year-old male patient living in Wang Kwong House, 33 Ngau Tau Kok Road. Both have long-term illnesses. The patient's sample was tested and confirmed to be positive for serotype 1 antigen of Pneumococcus pneumoniae.

In addition, the Center for Health Protection announced the latest situation on a recent case study of a veterans disease group involving 11 patients. Laboratory results showed that clinical samples from six patients in this group and water samples from two fresh water cooling towers at Rainbow MTR Station showed the same genotype of Pneumococcus pneumophila serotype 1.
