1300 children in the first level placement test within the programming marathon for children and adolescents

The software marathon for children and young adults for 2020, organized by the Lifelong Learning Center at the Syrian Virtual University and the Excellence and Creativity Authority in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics, was launched today.

About 1,300 children from the various governorates from 8 to 11 years old were introduced to the first-level placement test for the marathon, as the test was conducted on three periods during the day, each one hour and a quarter within the virtual university centers and branches of the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics.

The test aims to assess participants' thinking and logical skills and their knowledge of the approved programming languages ​​Scratch and C Plus Plus in order to distribute them to 3 beginners, intermediate and advanced levels, after which the training phase commences to suit each level.

While Sana monitored the course of the test in Damascus at the Virtual University Access Centers in Al-Rawda and Information Technology in Abu Rummaneh, Saya Google, Director of the Lifelong Learning Center at the Virtual University, explained that the test includes simple issues in programming languages ​​in order to identify children's levels and that the results will be issued within two days after studying them from Before the scientific committees, it is important to point out the importance of reaching the smallest age group of distinguished students in the field of informatics or programming and sponsoring them within an integrated academic framework and disseminating the program culture not only with how to use a computer but in a way of thinking and logic analysis Y.

The engineer, Maya Taqi, director of the programmatic training program for children and adolescents at the Virtual University, noted the turnout witnessed in the current season of the marathon, which aims mainly to raise the general scientific level and enhance the skills of logical analysis and creative thinking among children and adolescents and provide useful content in the field of programming and informatics.

Mona Al-Mizal, the mother of one of the participating children, drew attention to the importance of this type of competition in developing children's talents in the fields they love and not wasting their time on unhelpful things.

The first-level placement test for adolescents with ages from 12 to 15 years is scheduled for Saturday 7-3-2020 within the virtual university centers and the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics in the governorates.

The training program for the marathon to be organized in Damascus next August includes five training and qualifying stages that are scientifically and scientifically specific, during which qualification tests are conducted and appropriate training is provided on various programming technologies and on logical thinking mechanisms for children and adolescents and in a way that helps support the ability of Syrian youth and young people to compete globally and expand The popular base for programming at different age groups.

110 specialized trainers were approved, in addition to a group of Ministry of Education teachers to supervise the training of participants in the marathon during the training phase for the children and adolescents categories.
