(CNN Spanish) - At least 6 Ecuadorians were killed and 37 others were injured in a traffic accident in the Los Órganos district, department of Piura, located northwest of Peru, according to the national police of that country on Saturday.
Without giving details about what happened or the nationalities of the survivors, the police reported that the injured were taken to the nearest medical centers.
The starting point of the vehicle and its final destination are unknown at the moment.
CNN has tried unsuccessfully to obtain more information about what happened with the Peruvian police.

Among the victims would be fans of the Barcelona Sporting Club, Guayaquil soccer team and one of the most popular in the country.
"Barcelona Sporting Club has been since dawn, aware of the situation of the unfortunate bus accident, which moved our fans back to Ecuador from Peru," the team wrote in its Twitter account.
"All efforts have been and continue to be carried out with the authorities of Peru and Ecuador, which have cooperated in every way," the team added in its tweet.

Barcelona SC played last Thursday against Sporting Cristal, a Lima soccer team, in a match of the Copa Libertadores tournament.
The president of Ecuador, Lenín Moreno, reacted to the fact. “Our deep solidarity with the families of @BarcelonaSC fans who died in an accident in Peru. We are coordinating the care of all those affected and the international procedures that are required. All our support in these hard times! ”, The president wrote.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador informed that “the protocols have been activated in support of the compatriots and their families through our Consulate in Tumbes and our Zonal Coordination in Machala. Follow-up is maintained with the corresponding Peruvian authorities. ”
