Pope Francis has convened a synod of bishops for the fall of 2022, without the subject of this meeting of bishops from around the world having yet to be defined, the Vatican said on Saturday.

The Council of the General Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops, the institution that prepares these meetings, proposed to the Pope at a meeting on February 6 a brief list of possible subjects for discussion during this synod " with a view to his final choice "Said a Vatican press release.
" The Holy Father (...) decided to convene this assembly (the synod of bishops, note) in the fall of 2022 so as to ensure a greater involvement of the whole Church in the preparation " of this meeting, according to the same source.
The last ordinary synod was held in October 2018 on the theme of young people in particular. A year later, in October 2019, the pope called a special synod, that is to say concerning the bishops of a specific region of the world, in this case the Amazon.

"The Church [...] appreciates [those] who are committed to helping those who have to move"
This Council and the Pope have at the same time published this Saturday a message of support for NGOs and governments that help and support migrants.
" Very many people are forced to go from one country to another because of wars, economic inequalities, search for work or more fertile land, persecution, religious, terrorism or ecological crisis ", denounces the pope with the senior prelates.
" People are disoriented, families destroyed (...) women and young people are forced into prostitution ", continues the message.
“ The Church identifies with the poor, the small, abroad. It appreciates the governments and NGOs (...) who are committed to helping those who have to move, "says the document, claiming" vigilance against human trafficking and the commitment to put an end to the conflicts which cause so much suffering ”.
