At 3 am on Monday (17), a man wearing a gray shirt and a black mask reportedly broke into a convenience store in the center of Mody Hershey and claimed to buy cigarettes. After the female employee of the shop took out the cigarette, the man revealed the appearance of the thief. He showed a knife about 8 inches long and robbed. The employee was afraid of the weapon and took 1,000 yuan from the cash register. The pack of cigarettes was stopped, and two packs of cigarettes and thousands of yuan in cash were eventually taken away and fled. The police classified the case as "robbery" and are looking for a culprit to return.
Convenience store robberies are still frequent in recent days. In total, at least 8 similar robberies have occurred in the past two weeks, mainly in Tin Shui Wai, Yuen Long and Tuen Mun. In the early morning of yesterday (16th), a convenience store on Hop Yick Road, Yuen Long was robbed of about 7,000 yuan in cash. On the afternoon of 7th of this month, a convenience store in MTR East Tsim Sha Tsui Station was also robbed of 5,000 yuan cash.
