LE FIGARO.- Do you share the diagnosis of an American withdrawal with regard to security in Europe?
Jens STOLTENBERG.- We see differences among NATO allies, but they are always acting more together and the United States is not abandoning Europe. On the contrary. They are increasing their presence with more troops, as in Poland, and with more equipment. As we speak, we are conducting an exercise called "Europe 20" with 20,000 soldiers from the United States. It is also the largest American deployment in Europe for several years. And NATO constitutes the only platform for regular political consultation between Europe and North America, for example on strategic questions of arms control.
