Mercedes Benz tests the W11, the new car for the 2020 Formula 1 season

(CNN Spanish) - The Formula 1 team, Mercedes-AMG Petronas, reported that it has officially started testing its new car for the 2020 season.

The F1-W11 EQ, as they have christened it in the team, began to roll in the circuit of Silverstone, United Kingdom, under the leadership of Valtteri Bottas.

Toto Wolff, executive director of the Mercedes team, believes that 2020 will be a season with “great challenges” because, according to him, there will be teams that will put all their resources for the season.

Wolff added that getting the right balance in the car for the season "will be very important and not easy to achieve."

The W11 represents the eleventh model presented to compete in F1, since its return to the great carp of motoring in 2010.

The Mercedes team reported that they drove the W11 for 100 kilometers to monitor, in their systems, the performance of their new model prior to the first official test in the Barcelona circuit.

The pilot, Valtteri Bottas described as “a real privilege” to be able to handle the new W11 and commented that, after the first trial of the new model in Silverstone, he maintains constant communication with the engineers.
