The three major U.S. stock indexes all fell. The Dow inserted 128 points. Hong Kong stocks followed the decline. The HSI opened at 27,450 points this morning, down 158 points (0.57%). The state-owned enterprise index was 10843 points, down 70 points (0.64%).

Blue chip stocks generally opened lower, Tencent (0700) fell 0.97% to 406 yuan; AIA (1299) fell to 79.65 yuan; HSBC Holdings (0005) fell 0.5% to 56.5 yuan; Alibaba (9988) fell 1.2%, reported at 213 yuan; Ping An of China (2318) fell 0.66% to 91 yuan; Hong Kong Stock Exchange (0388) fell 0.37% to 270.4 yuan.
