Housing discrimination: "my file was refused because I have children"

" By chatting around me, I realize that I am not an isolated case ". Fabien, 41 years old in Levallois-Perret (92), confided in Le Figaro about a form of discrimination in housing that had been little known until then.

Fabien, 41, project director:

“ I have lived in Levallois-Perret (92) since 2012. During the separation with my wife, we put up for sale our apartment. I was looking for a 2 room apartment in Levallois located near the schools of our two children. I found the ideal apartment through an agency: 10 meters from where we lived, large enough (60 m²) to receive the children when they are with me.

I visit it a first time then a second to be sure. I send a complete file with joint surety, recommendation letter from my former landlord owner ... The agency orally asks me for details on my family situation, a missing stamp on my employer certificate and an extract from my marriage contract ( they don't ask me again
