A week after the murder of a Rosario taxi driver, the Prosecutor's Office found the alleged perpetrators of the crime and cleared doubts about the reasons for the attack by stating that Gerónimo Escobar was shot in an attempted robbery .

But the audience left other revelations. The accused are a couple and investigate links with five previous assaults in the same place. They also warned that the young woman detained several times violated a house arrest order for a previous event.

Brenda Oviedo is 25 years old and Justice had enabled her to complete the arrest at a private home to take care of her 2-year-old son. The house where she declared residence, however, was not the place where she was captured on Tuesday with Miguel Quinteros (35).

Prosecutor Marisol Fabbro pointed to the man as the shooter who wounded the driver when he resisted the dawn of Thursday, but both he and his partner were identified as co-authors of a plan that they executed periodically to ambush the drivers “50 meters away where they lived. "

According to the hypothesis of the Public Prosecutor's Office (MPA), Escobar was the first fatal victim of a routine that began when the young woman, sometimes accompanied by her sister, got into a taxi at night. She asked to be taken to Centeno and Callao and there Quinteros waited with a gun to threaten who was behind the wheel. "A testimony left the idea that when there was resistance, not only wielding the weapon but was even more aggressive ," the official explained when reviewing her theory of the case.

Among the material collected by the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), the video of the security camera of an ATM located on Ovidio Lagos and Saavedra stood out. The young woman seen in the filming not only coincides with the description provided by witnesses of this cause but with that of several previous episodes. Despite this background, Fabbro said the neighbors are afraid and that is why "they did not want to give their name out of fear."

The stop at the Macro bank branch at 4:20 coincides with the GPS data of the Chevrolet Corsa found that morning at a service station in the area. The 61-year-old taxi driver came there to ask for help after being shot in the chest, apparently the result of his attempt to flee and avoid the assault. A few hours later, the shooting ended his life while he was operating at the Clemente Álvarez Emergency Hospital (Heca).

The "Correntino", as his companions knew the taxi driver, never returned home. He had left with the goal of raising some extra pesos to celebrate his son's 14th birthday that Sunday. While the judicial investigation was underway, industry leaders launched a strike until the next morning and recalled that they had already claimed security measures against the background of other violent robberies in that block.

The alleged perpetrators of the homicide on the occasion of aggravated robbery by use of a firearm were placed under preventive detention. The defendant's defense said she is pregnant and requested with that argument that they allow her to remain under house arrest despite previous breaches.

Prosecutor Fabbro warned that Oviedo had no electronic ankle brace or more controls than the police station in charge could do. As of the driver's death, both she and her partner now face a minimum penalty of 15 years in prison.
