18 Hong Kong people who failed to charter flights arrive at ANA

The Hong Kong Government has arranged for 364 Hong Kong people stranded on the Japanese cruise ship "Diamond Princess" to leave. The second chartered flight arrived in Hong Kong this morning (22nd), and 82 Hong Kong people were sent to Foyang Junyang Village for quarantine; another 18 Hong Kong people who failed to take a charter flight switched to an ANA flight and were also sent to Chunyang Village for quarantine after arriving in Hong Kong.

The government issued a press release early this morning, stating that there were 82 Hong Kong residents and 2 Macau residents on the chartered plane. The Macau Special Administrative Region Government has arranged a special car to take 2 Macau residents directly at the airport and return to Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The medical staff of the Department of Health briefly explained the quarantine arrangements and measured their temperature before the passengers landed. Then they took a special car to the quarantine center of Junyang Village for 14 days of quarantine observation.

Diamond Princess 66 diagnosed in Hong Kong

The government continued that, as of February 21, there were 634 confirmed cases of "Coronavirus 2019" among Diamond Princess passengers, of which 66 were Hong Kong residents who would stay in Japan for medical treatment. As for the close contacts of the diagnosed patients, the Department of Health has formulated plans for the risk prevention measures to take them back to Hong Kong by charter flights, and is working hard to discuss feasible arrangements with the airlines. These individuals must have a negative test result for "Coronavirus 2019" and be physically fit to board the aircraft. Immigration staff will remain in Japan to continue to provide viable assistance to other Hong Kong residents who are still local or undergoing treatment.
