(CNN Spanish) - The Costa Rican government repealed a decree that created a Data Analysis Unit from the Presidency and says it takes the measure due to the concern of various sectors. In social networks, the Unit was criticized as a threat to the civil rights of Costa Ricans because it would facilitate access to confidential data.

The deputy of the left-wing Frente Amplio party, José María Villalta, classified the Unit as an occurrence and pointed out that access to sensitive data can only be authorized by a law passed with a qualified majority in the congress.
