Fischbachau - Everything could have been so easy. Fischbachau farmer Gottfried Priller junior (29) wanted to prepare for the future. He had demolished his old stable from the 1920s and built a modern playpen, according to all standards and specifications. But then there were problems with the liquid manure pit: A new regulation stipulated that this must be covered with a film. The only certified provider asked for around 30,000 euros. Priller swallowed.

Problems like these keep burning farmers' nails. The difficult thing about it: The responsible authorities are not located in their communities, but mostly in Munich, Berlin or Brussels. So the farmers cannot even go by and explain where the shoe is squeezed.

So that a dialogue can nevertheless develop, Minister of Agriculture Michaela Kaniber, President of the Landtag Ilse Aigner and Member of the Bundestag Alexander Radwan came to Fischbachau's Priller stable on Friday to hear the concerns of the farmers. Around 100 farmers also came and explained what they thought was wrong.

There were enough topics. Nikolaus Schreyer, third chairman of the Alpine Farming Association of Upper Bavaria, asked for support for the manure regulation ("makes no sense here") and compensation allowance ("our community has lost a lot of money"). Kaniber assured them. But it warned farmers not to fall for unrealistic promises made by right-wing extremists. Take the billion dollar example: "If I hear that we don't want the money, then we don't have to comply with the requirements either," then I don't know who is stupid: the one who says it or the one who believes it.

A demand that kept popping up: the district should use its decision-making freedom more in favor of the farmers in order to speed up procedures. At Priller, this has already worked: he can build his manure pit based on the Rosenheim model. This is just as effective, but significantly cheaper. The future can come.
