(CNN) - Quaden Bayles, the 9-year-old Australian boy who won the support of people around the world after being bullied for his dwarfism, led a rugby league team in front of thousands of fans who they cheered.

Bayles jumped onto the field with the Indigenous All Stars team of the National Rugby League before starting the exhibition match against the New Zealand Maori on Saturday.

The minor had been invited by the entire team in a video posted online, in which Captain Latrell Mitchell said: “We support you. We are here to support you, friend. ”
