Editor's Note: Carlos Alberto Montaner is a writer and political analyst at CNN. His columns are published in dozens of newspapers in Spain, the United States and Latin America. Montaner is also vice president of the Liberal International. The opinions expressed in this article are those of the author.

(CNN Spanish) - Andrés Oppenheimer says that the worst thing a Hispanic can do in the United States is to vote for Bernie Sanders. Next, explain the reasons you have for discarding this tireless candidate.

The most important is that this vote will serve to re-elect Donald Trump. And it is true: there is no greater interest in the Democratic ranks than to remove Donald Trump from the White House.

What suits Trump is to face a candidate who qualifies as a democratic socialist, who went on a honeymoon to the former Soviet Union and who still, I think, has some enthusiasm for the dictatorship of Cuba and the repressive regime by Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua.

However, some of Sanders' arguments have made their way into the imagination of the students and the middle classes. For example, paying for university studies and the medical bill of American society through the general state budgets.

It is very effective to ask why the developed nations of Europe can afford both lines, while the United States does not succeed.

The problem is that there is already a network of public hospitals in this country whose cost is absorbed by the State and whose quality, in general, is very bad: hospitals for war veterans.

On the other hand, Sanders does not say how much it will cost to assume the cost of higher education or of public and universal health, or how it will be paid.

My opinion is that Oppenheimer is right: choosing Bernie Sanders as a candidate for the Democratic Party will be a guarantee that Trump will be another four years in the White House.

To this is added another additional danger: that the Senate continues in republican hands and, at the same time, that the Democrats lose control of the House of Representatives, dragged by the avalanche of votes that President Trump would obtain if he opposes a socialist .

It was what happened in Britain when Labor chose Jeremy Corbyn. Conservative Boris Johnson licked his taste. His time had come.
