A Buenos Aires police officer was arrested on charges of killing a 27-year-old man in the town of El Pato, Berazategui party, with a rubber bullet in the head during a family fight in which the agent was assaulted while intervening, police sources reported .
The incident was recorded during the last hours at the door of an address located at the intersection of 531 and 633 streets in the town of South Conurbano.
There were personnel from the Berazategui Patrol Command following a complaint to the 911 emergency service for a situation of family violence.
According to the spokesmen, Lieutenant Emilio Guardis (47) and Sergeant Noelia Aparicio arrived at the scene, who were received with stones from those involved in the framework of the fight that had been generated on public roads.
After the situation, the neighbors began to argue with the police and one of them threw a blunt element at Guardis, who received a sharp wound in the forehead.
When a group of men tried to attack him, the agent fired several rubber bullets with an Escort shotgun that he carried.
One of the projectiles hit the head of Diego Arias (27) , who fell to the floor and died a few minutes later due to the seriousness of the injury.
For his part, the policeman was taken to Evita Pueblo Hospital , where he was healed for his injury.
Later, by order of the prosecutor Gabriela Mateo , head of the Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 3 of Berazategui, was taken to a security force headquarters next to the weapon she had used.
The prosecutor informed Guardis that he had been charged for the crime of manslaughter, news that decompensated him and had to be referred to the New Berazategui Sanatorium. He was interned in observation.
Meanwhile, the General Audit of Internal Affairs of the Police ordered the disinfection of Guardis of the force .
Meanwhile, Justice gave intervention to the National Gendarmerie (GNA) to preserve the crime scene and continue the investigation tasks.
