In Marseille, Samia Ghali in difficulty in her own stronghold

2020-02-25T12:21:06.462Z

In just two hours, the outgoing mayor of the 8th sector and the head of the EELV list who appeared there, both decided to line up behind the candidate for "Printemps Marseillais". All at the expense of the ex-PS senator, whom they will face in March.

Two hard knocks in two hours. This Tuesday morning, the ex-PS senator from Bouches-du-Rhône and candidate for mayor of Marseille, Samia Ghali, helplessly attended a double movement in her own fiefdom. Former mayor of the 8th sector (15th and 16th arrondissements), where she is standing for municipal elections next March, the elected official was first let go by the one she had nevertheless designated as her local successor.

Constrained by the law on the non-cumulation of mandates to give up his chair as mayor of sector after the senators of September 2017, Samia Ghali had indeed entrusted the keys of the 15th and 16th arrondissements to the communist Roger Ruzé. Now the councilor, labeled "various left" (DVG), has just announced in the columns of La Marseillaise that he had decided to break with Samia Ghali, and to support his opponent Jean-Marc Coppola (PCF).

Committed for a long time in local political life, the latter presents itself under the colors of "Printemps Marseillais". An unprecedented initiative in Marseille, this cartel of the left has managed to bring together socialists, communists and rebellious behind the ecologist Michèle Rubirola, whose candidacy is credited with 15% to 17% according to polls. Which would place it in third position.

A "at the same time" with local sauce

Proof of the good momentum behind this vast gathering of the left, especially in the northern districts: Jean-Marc Coppola recorded a second rally this Tuesday morning. This time it is Lydia Frentzel, who has given up presenting herself under the colors of Europe Ecology-The Greens to line up behind him. As La Provence revealed, it could be in second place on its list.

" We are delighted with these rallies ", we welcome in the "Printemps Marseillais". " Our movement has always advocated rallying, " we add, before developing a sort of "at the same time" in local sauce: " We wish to beat the National Rally, and put an end to old practices ". Understand: those of Samia Ghali, with whom "Printemps Marseillais" does not want to work.

Samia Ghali threatened at the senatorials?

A few minutes after the defection of its candidate, EELV for its part split a press release to denounce " the old shenanigans " which " kill democracy in Marseille ". " For several weeks, increasing pressures have been exerted on our lists, " said the party, according to which the environmental candidates " are under pressure, intimidation (and) threats ". " We will present a renewed list ", finally announces the movement.

Above all, the personality who could appear to be the most weakened at the end of this sequence seems to be Samia Ghali. Because the more the “Printemps Marseillais” list gets stronger in its sector, the more its chances of winning in March diminish. However if the elected representative of Marseille is beaten in the 15th and 16th arrondissements, she will be automatically threatened by the next senators.
