Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, announced that during the past year nine terrorist attacks were prevented in the North Caucasus, and the activity of 13 cells of the "ISIS" terrorist organization was eliminated.
Russia Today quoted Patrushev as saying during today's meeting that during the past year, the Russian security services managed to liquidate 26 terrorists and prevent 22 crimes of a terrorist nature.
“In the framework of achieving the decisions of the last meeting held in Makhachkala in April 2019, work was done to prevent the destabilization of the social and political situation in the North Caucasus,” Patrushev added, noting that the security men were able to implement a set of activities and measures aimed at preventing terrorist and extremist activities in Region.
The Russian Federal Security Service announced yesterday the arrest of two terrorists in the city of Saratov on the Volga River who were preparing for a mass killing in an educational institution using firearms and incendiary materials.
