North Korea would have executed the country's first coronavirus infected, according to unconfirmed rumors published in Asian media.

The regime of Kim Jong Un has officially maintained that there are no cases of coronavirus (COVID 19) in the territory, although the transcendents indicate that there was at least one infected infected , which was executed by the dictatorship, according to ibtimes.sg.

This is not the first time that such extreme measures are taken under the rule of Kim Jong Un.

Earlier last week, reports suggested that a North Korean trade official was shot to leave the coronavirus quarantine to visit a public restroom. According to South Korean media, the victim, who had returned to the country after a visit to China, was executed for risking the spread of the deadly virus .

North Korea has repeatedly stressed in official statements that the country does not have a single case of the highly contagious virus on its soil, although it suggested that there are people who show suspicious symptoms , raising fears that Pyongyang might be hiding an outbreak .

The country informed the World Health Organization that 141 suspected cases of coronavirus were analyzed and all were negative.

However, South Korean media, relying on anonymous sources, have reported cases of COVID-19 in North Korea , some of them fatal.

The largest newspaper in South Korea, Chosun Ilbo, argues that there were at least two suspected cases of the disease in the city of Sinuiju, which borders China. The Daily North Korea, based in South Korea, reported that up to five people would have died from the coronavirus in the same city.

North Korea, meanwhile, has closed its border and cut transport connections with China. Foreigners visiting the country are kept in quarantine for 30 days, while foreign diplomats and the staff of international organizations have been restricted in their movements through Pyongyang.
