After the scandal generated around his deputy banking, Daniel Scioli - elected by President Alberto Fernández as ambassador to Brazil - put a brake on his public diplomatic actions. He will not accompany the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, to the trip he will take this Wednesday to Brasilia and hopes to know what will be the date of publication of his appointment in the official bulletin to present the resignation in Congress.

"As I have stated to the authorities of my bloc and to the Presidency of the Chamber, as of March 3 I formally take charge of the embassy. It has not yet been published in the Official Gazette nor was the decree published, which is the moment in which it is formalized, "Scioli said during the last session, in which Together for Change accused the ruling party of " sitting an ambassador " to achieve quorum.

However, the resignation still did not enter the lower house and around the former Buenos Aires governor explained that the appointment - like so many others within the state structure - is delayed. In fact, only this Monday became the medical assistant required to assume the official function.

Therefore, they say, he continues to work as a deputy and expects to be informed that his designation will be published in the next few days to present the formal resignation, which must then be approved by the body of deputies at the next session.

"Once the present can already assume another position. It is not necessary to wait for the Chamber to accept it," said parliamentary sources.

The truth is that, meanwhile, Scioli does not plan other trips to Brazil. While he met Sergio Massa before the president of the House goes down to the neighboring country, he will not go. "I was not expected to go because he is still a deputy," they agreed to point in the surroundings of Scioli and Massa.

"They got together a few days before. Daniel told him about the issues there, he painted the picture but he does not travel because he is not an ambassador yet, " they explained near Scioli.

Scioli had already traveled with Foreign Minister Felipe Solá to Brasilia, where they were received by President Jair Bolsonaro and toured São Paulo to meet with businessmen in early February.

In this case, Massa will meet his Brazilian counterpart, Rodrigo Maia, the head of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre, and the head of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), José Antonio Dias Toffoli.

Meanwhile, the opposition is still standing with the idea of bringing the issue to justice. "Either the Foreign Service law is not complied with, which prevents a diplomat from having elective office, or the Criminal Code prohibiting the usurpation of office is not complied with, which is what happens when a deputy acts as an ambassador" , declared days ago the head of the bench of Together for Change, Mario Negri.

As Clarín learned, JxC legislators have already prepared the complaint to file in the federal criminal jurisdiction and await the political decision of the National Board to move forward.
