The rush to the medical practices in the district of Munich is growing because of the corona. But in some places there is a lack of protective clothing to carry out the necessary tests.

Landkreis - Patients currently need a lot of patience in the waiting rooms and telephone lines of the practice doctors. The number of sufferers is always large at this time of year, in addition there are currently many questions and logistical tasks related to the corona virus.

In order to be able to carry out corona tests, general practitioner Dr. Friedrich Kiener ordered protective masks and smocks weeks ago. "We are prepared." The eight doctors in the Unterschleissheim joint practice can test in protective clothing and in an isolated room. "So far, however, we have only had one suspected case," says Kiener. "A woman was tested who came back from Lombardy with symptoms." The smear was sent to the laboratory, and the patient was under domestic surveillance.

Patients without "suspicion" have to pay for the test themselves

However, the test will only be paid by the health insurers if there is reasonable suspicion. Means: The patient shows symptoms and has come from an area affected by the coronavirus, or the affected person has had contact with an infected person. "If this justified suspicion is not available, the patient has to pay the cost of 146 euros himself."

Kiener is keen to provide information and counteract hysteria. "If the police officer or nurse decides not to go to work out of sheer fear, it can be worse than the corona virus itself."

"Many people panic, but ..."

The general practitioner Dr. Unterhaching makes a certain discrepancy between concern and behavior. Peter Schloßer firmly with politicians and the population: "Many people are very worried or even spread panic, but still go downtown on a shopping tour through full shops, where hundreds of tourists from all over the world stay."

The Unterhachingen family doctor provides information on the cornavirus on the homepage. So far, there has been no suspicion in common practice. Schloßer denies that there are more worried patients. "Only a few worried patients have come forward, mostly people who have returned from northern Italy and have cold symptoms," he says. "If you are worried, make it smart and call first - if he gets through - we have a lot to do right now, as always in the winter half-year."

No replenishment of protective clothing

He advises patients with corona concerns who call to stay at home. "First you have to wait and see if the symptoms get worse, you have to re-consult, just like we do with influenza."

Schloßer sees a need for action "if there is a spread and the number of suspected cases increases, which the Federal Government assumes." The Free State is not well equipped. Many practices could not carry out the tests because there was no replenishment of protective clothing. "Protective clothing cannot be produced that quickly either."

General practitioners in particular are already reaching their limits. Now they are sounding a corona alarm.
