Judges, pull your hand from the chariot

Less than a day, it took the enemies of democracy to wake up. Even before the results of the truth were published, the grocer had left the sack. Former Supreme Court Justice Eliyahu Mazza explained that he assumes that the citizens who voted for Netanyahu "simply do not understand the size of the hour and the weight of responsibility in their vote."

The contempt for voter will not end with statements. As with any forceful move, a commando unit is needed to take action to thwart democracy. This role was taken this time by the Movement for Quality Government, which, in order to prevent Netanyahu from forming a government, petitioned the High Court to issue orders suspending the Knesset's powers, the freedom of the Knesset to vote and the independence of the President's discretion.

Basic Law: The President explicitly states that the President is immune from any legal action. Petitions cannot be filed against the president, and his authority with regard to granting a mandate to form a permanent government underpins the democratic regime.

This did not stop the government's quality movement from asking the High Court to order the President's Attorney General to issue a binding opinion that the President should not fulfill the will of the people. They also demand that the High Court ban all Knesset factions from recommending Netanyahu.

If the court has authority to decide, directly or indirectly, who will serve as prime minister, what is the point of going to the election? In the past, many non-democratic countries existed in the world that did not even bother to produce a semblance of citizen sharing in power.

For many years this has not been the case. Non-democratic countries hold elections, but the result is dictated in advance. Non-democratic countries hold elected elections and vote on various issues, but decisions are actually made elsewhere.

From the cause of reasonableness to the disregard of laws, the Supreme Court has over the years gained quite a bit of authority from elected officials. Smiling, an aura of holiness to the will of the people, of the sovereign.

Basic Law provisions: The government is clear. The government's law also provides detailed instructions on how the trial of a prime minister who began serving a criminal trial against him should be administered.

Unfortunately, our court cannot expect these petitions outright. There is a real concern that the Supreme Court will take the double vote, as defined by Prof. Alan Dershowitz. Once, each judge will vote in the ballot box near his place of residence, and the second time, he will vote in the Supreme Court and take on the real rule.

Elected representatives of the right and left must unite against these approaches and say to the High Court: Up to this point. In fact, they will sell the industry we all sit on, on which the Jewish and democratic state of Israel sits.
