The Israeli elections are once again delivering ambiguous results. The final verdict of the ballot boxes will not be known until Wednesday, but Benjamin Netanyahu has partially succeeded in his improbable bet. The acting prime minister is best placed to form a government after Monday's legislative elections. He could manage, according to the latest projections and pending official results, to approach the threshold of the number of deputies necessary to obtain an absolute majority of seats in the Knesset.
His party, the Likoud, is far ahead of Kahol Lavan, the Blue and White group of Benny Gantz. The polls at the exit of the urns of the Israeli chains and the counting of the votes credit the Likud of 36 or 37 seats, against 32 to 34 for the Blue White formation. The difference is important but it was missing this Tuesday, late evening, three seats to the right to govern.
