Meet the Argentine family that traveled in an old car for 20 years 2:45
(CNN Spanish) - If you have a dreamy soul or if you ever wanted to travel around the world but did not dare, this story may interest you.
In 2000, an Argentine couple, Herman and Candelaria Zapp, decided to travel to Alaska as part of an adventure, a romantic odyssey in an old car: a 1928 Graham Paige.
They had few savings, about $ 4,000 that would not last long, but that were enough to start the trip.
In an interview with CNN in Spanish, Herman and Candelaria explained that they never thought that this six-month adventure would start a trip around the world that would last 20 years, and that despite not having more savings, the world would help them complete their dream .
They confess that totally unknown people approached and offered help to achieve their trip.
Herman and Candelaria Zapp knew each other since adolescents in Buenos Aires and it was during the last 20 years, while traveling through exotic places, that their four children were born: Pampa, Tehue, Paloma and Wallaby.
When the family got bigger they had to enlarge the old car the Graham Paige to make sure everyone could get in, Candelaria tells CNN. They also had to learn some mechanics to keep the car going.
Together in the Graham Paige the 6 traveled through more than 50 countries and crossed several continents, traveling thousands of kilometers. The experience they confess has been so wonderful that they wrote a book about their adventures: Catch your dreams .
From Brazil, where we found them for the interview, they told us about the magical journey they started. However, that trip will now see its end. They do not know exactly when, but they say that this year will end part of the great adventure they made 20 years ago. They will return to their country, Argentina.
What awaits them? They do not know, but they are so happy to have undertaken the trip that they do not care about what will come in the future.
“You have to trust your dreams. The world is ready for your dreams, ”says Herman and Candelaria and they advise all dreamers to begin and not postpone the wishes one may have.
