  • The first major debate between candidates for the municipal elections in Paris takes place this Wednesday evening, and it is broadcast on LCI.
  • Eleven days before the first round, each of the seven main contenders for Paris city hall intends to defend their program and their main measures.
  • The exchanges take place in a more "intimate" format than the previous major electoral debates.

8:25 p.m. Activists mobilized. Supporters of several of the candidates have gathered in Parisian cafes, and they plan to comment on the debate on social networks.

Coming battle on social media for #LaGrandeConfrontationParis. The teams are mobilized for "repost-parties": @datirachida at the aptly named L'Antenne bar, @agnesbuzyn at the Grand Café Bataclan, @Anne_Hidalgo at Point Ephémère, @VillaniCedric at Réveil Samaritain.

8:20 p.m. A second debate on Tuesday. Note that the candidates will meet Tuesday evening to debate again, this time on France 3 Ile-de-France and on France Info. A third round will take place on Wednesday March 18 on BFMTV, but only between candidates qualified for the second round.

8:17 p.m. A more intimate format. No more large, spaced desks! The candidates will this time be seated on armchairs arranged in a circle, with simply a small square table in front of each of them. The idea is to "create a space for dialogue where ideas flow without a rat race", according to Fabien Namias, the head of news at TF1.

8:15 p.m. A debate in two parts. The candidates will be initially asked five minutes each in turn about their project and their application. They will be able “to evoke one or two salient points of their program”, explained to us on Tuesday the host of the debate, David Pujadas. Then, several themes will be tackled, divided into three main themes: "public space", "Climate", and "economy and social".

8:13 p.m. Marcel Campion grumbles. The showman is not one of the candidates invited to debate in "La grande confrontation" this evening. At a press conference on Tuesday, the leader of the Libenons Paris movement denounced a “sidelining of the media”.
