Implicated because of some of his choices, Nicolas Belloir, the president of the French Federation of roller and skateboard (FFRS), resigned Thursday evening from his post.

The president of the French Federation of roller skating and skateboarding (FFRS), Nicolas Belloir, resigned Thursday evening after criticism of the management of cases of sexual assault revealed in these board sports. "The Federation has been implicated in its way of dealing with sexual violence in roller skating and skateboarding for several weeks, which led to the resignation of the president," Hervé Lallement, national technical director, told AFP ( DTN) of the FFRS. The DTN also indicated that Nicolas Belloir had "an appointment with the Minister of Sports scheduled for Tuesday, March 10. A delegation from the Federation should be received by the Minister ”.

“This is just the first step. He is not solely responsible for omerta in sport and at the RSMC. ”

Amandine Richaud-Crambes

News that was welcomed by Amandine Richaud-Crambes, the president in charge of roller derby who had called for the resignation of Belloir from his position a fortnight ago. “Nicolas Belloir made a first reasonable decision in view of the current context and following my call for resignation. However, this is only the first step. He is not solely responsible for omerta in sport and at the RSMC. There are dysfunctions at all levels in our federation and we expect strong and real acts. ” Richaud-Crambes notably denounced the support provided by the federation to a player, Nicolas Goury, accused of sexual exhibitionism and now suspended on a protective basis.

He is the second leader to step down from the presidency of a sports federation following revelations of sexual violence. Previously, Didier Gailhaguet, head of the French Federation of Ice Sports (FFSG), had been forced to resign on February 8. According to the newspaper L'Equipe, six complaints have been filed in recent weeks for acts of sexual violence in the roller derby. In December 2018, the former director of the French artistic rollerblading teams, Arnaud Mercier, had been sentenced to 13 years in prison for sexual assault, rape, corruption of a minor. Several skaters had testified. In a press release issued Friday, the RSMC announces that the board of directors will meet on Saturday March 14.
