The president of the French Federation of roller and skateboard (FFRS), Nicolas Belloir, resigned Thursday evening after criticism of the management of cases of sexual assault revealed in these board sports, we learned this Friday .
"The Federation has been implicated in its way of dealing with sexual violence in roller skating and skateboarding for several weeks, which led to the resignation of the president," Hervé Lallement, national technical director, told AFP ( DTN) of the FFRS. The DTN also indicated that Nicolas Belloir had "an appointment with the Minister of Sports scheduled for Tuesday, March 10". "A delegation from the Federation should be received by the Minister," he said.
He is the second leader to step down from the presidency of a sports federation following revelations of sexual violence. Previously, Didier Gailhaguet, head of the French Ice Sports Federation (FFSG), had been forced to resign on February 8. In a press release issued Friday, the RSMC announces that the board of directors will meet on Saturday March 14.
In December 2018, the former director of the French artistic rollerblading teams, Arnaud Mercier, had been sentenced to 13 years in prison for sexual assault, rape, corruption of a minor. Several skaters had testified.
