The gravel mining at Sachsenkam causes trouble. Now it should be checked whether all requirements are met.

Sachsenkam - A gravel pit at Sachsenkam causes trouble. The mining area was cleared a month ago and gravel extraction began. This has brought the Greens on the scene. The young local association recently asked the municipality for information about the planning and approval process. The local council dealt with the issue on Thursday. Now it is the turn of the district office.

As a reminder: In the first meeting in 2011, the Sachsenkamer municipal councils had to deal with an application for gravel mining south of the district road between Sachsenkam and Kirchbichl. The mining area is coming from Sachsenkam immediately after the start of the forest area. In a retrospective, Mayor Hans Schneil said that 120,000 cubic meters of gravel were to be removed from an area of around 11,700 square meters and then filled again. During the approval process, the mining volume was reduced to 60,000 cubic meters. At that time, the municipal councils had concerns in particular because of the problematic and narrow access in the curve area of the district road. A month later, the town council agreed because another way of access had been found via a forest path.

In April 2011, residents of Kirchbichlerstrasse and Tölzer Strasse went on the barricades because they were not only worried about noise and dust, but especially about school route safety on Kirchbichler Strasse, which is narrow in the entrance area of Sachsenkam. In a signature campaign, 70 citizens had spoken out against the removal of the gravel through the village. The municipal councils followed suit and asked the district building authority to issue a permit stating that the gravel may only be transported westwards, i.e. to Kirchbichl and Ellbach. The demands of the community were then not taken into account in the March 2014 excavation notice.

New owner: "We don't want to cause any annoyance"

In January 2015, the municipal council rejected an application to extend the mining period from 10 to 20 years. A month later, the municipal council corrected its rejection after the future operator of the gravel pit had made it clear that this could reduce traffic through Sachsenkam. After that, there was silence until the mining area was cleared and dismantling started last month.

In the meantime, the property has been sold, but the community has only recently been informed. On request, the new owner let the community know in a letter that neither the assessor nor the previous operator had pointed out the agreements regarding the removal of gravel to the west. "The well-being of the Saxons is very important to us, and we don't want to cause any annoyances," it says literally. The company's areas of application are primarily in the area of Königsdorf, Münsing and Geretsried, "so that, of course, we use a route through Ellbach". For environmental, technical and economic reasons, access by Sachsenkam cannot be avoided entirely. In exceptional cases, ten trips per day are possible.

Municipal councilor Fritz Kropius pointed out the requirements of the approval notice in the well-attended meeting on Thursday evening. "Nothing is adhered to," he said, referring in particular to the required triangles. The committee was also skeptical about the other requirements, be it the paved driveway or the observance of the minimum distance of the excavations and the earth wall from the district road as well as the removal of dirt from the pavement. The municipal councils followed Karl Slawik's suggestion that all of this be checked by the district office.

A round table with representatives of the State Building Authority, representatives of the transport authority and the building authority was also suggested. Mayor Schneil could not confirm concerns from the circle of numerous listeners regarding an enlargement of the mining area or mining quantity "according to the current status". (Günter Platschek)
