In the early hours of this (10th) morning, a large number of abandoned buildings caught fire at a steel company recycling yard near Tsing Yi Road. The area was about 10 meters by 10 meters. The firefighters arrived at the scene to erect a ladder to purge the waste dump. It took about an hour and a half to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire was still under investigation. Hours after the fire, odors shrouded in the areas around Kwai Kwai and Kowloon, and even Hong Kong Island. Police and the Fire Services Department received at least 50 requests for help, all confirming a false alarm. According to the Observatory's data, northwesterly winds were common in Tsing Yi at the time of the incident. Kowloon and Hong Kong Island were located southeast of Tsing Yi. It was suspected that the odor would spread. A large amount of white smoke has been emitted from the fire scene so far.
