Is the resumption of the pro-Iranian militia campaign against the US military presence in Iraq? On Wednesday evening, 18 Katyusha rockets fell on the Taji military base, some 30 km north of Baghdad. Two American soldiers and a British soldier were killed in this attack, the deadliest since the last escalation of violence in December and January between Americans and pro-Iranian relays in Iraq. If this operation has not yet been claimed, there is little doubt that it is the work of Iraqi militias, subservient to the Iranian neighbor.

A few hours later, in retaliation, the American air force struck bases of these militias, on Syrian territory, just across the border with Iraq. At least 25 pro-Iranian fighters have been killed.
