Malaysia today announced that it recorded 190 new cases of the highest HIV virus confirmed in one day, as a result of the crowds witnessed in a religious ceremony held in a mosque near the capital Kuala Lumpur.
Reuters quoted the Malaysian Ministry of Health as saying in a statement that 243 confirmed cases of the virus were linked to the religious celebration that lasted from the 24th of last February to the first of this month in a mosque near the capital Kuala Lumpur and that all participants in the religious celebration and everyone who communicated with them will be placed Under the mandatory medical quarantine for 14 days.
The ministry added that these new infections raise the total number of confirmed cases to 428, making it the largest outcome for Southeast Asian countries.
Brunei had previously announced 45 injuries related to the religious celebration, in addition to Singapore, which announced some cases related to the same event.
