Moosburg - Anyone who had asked around for Moosburg's mayor election in the past few days was always given three names. Indeed, this trio ran head-to-head on election evening: In the end, 3rd Mayor Michael Stanglmaier (Greens) was 30.04 percent ahead of 2nd Mayor Josef Dollinger (FW; 28.83), again closely followed by Georg Hadersdorfer (CSU; 24.90). The latter thus missed the entry into the runoff election on March 29.

For Stanglmaier, this was a “great result”, which for him meant a “huge advance of trust” by the Moosburger, as he emphasized on Sunday evening. "But it is not yet a victory. I hope that in two weeks I will be able to convince people that Moosburg is experiencing a new beginning with Stanglmaier. “They had a content-focused and creative campaign that was“ not a material battle like the others ”. At the same time, the competition was "fair and almost comradely". For Stanglmaier, this is a good omen for what will come to Moosburg due to the Corona crisis: "In the new city council, it is even more important that we all pull together for the benefit of our citizens, businesses and restaurants." Stanglmaier, who is a scientist in his doctoral thesis of all things concerned with the multiplication of viruses sees himself armed for this task. He now appeals to all voters to exercise the right to vote a second time and campaigns for postal voting. "No matter whether Sepp Dollinger or me: It is important that Moosburg's new mayor is legitimized with a high turnout."

Josef Dollinger took his election result in the evening with mixed feelings. On the one hand, he was happy to be entering the runoff. "I expected the Greens to be in the front," said Dollinger. On the other hand, the general corona development ensures "that I can only be happy to a limited extent". He expects "massive trade tax slumps, bankruptcies, short-time work and unemployment" in the coming legislative period. The consequences of the virus "will be a great burden for the whole country, but also for Moosburg". His family's cinema and gastronomy are also badly affected. Like Stanglmaier, Dollinger hopes "after the fair election campaign that everyone will work well together to master the challenges together". His prediction for the runoff: "I assume that I will win."

Georg Hadersdorfer does not see the reason for his departure from the race personally. "I did the maximum possible, and I don't think it was the election program either." Rather, the general trend in Germany in favor of the Greens was responsible for not being able to benefit from the incumbent's bonus . "We have to analyze this in more detail." The result was "a shame", it had been decided on the last four postal voting districts. Nonetheless: “I still feel good, we as a CSU and in the team have had a very good and topic-oriented election campaign. Everyone did a great job. ”He now sees it as sporty - and will definitely continue to work politically. He was also confident that "all the groups in the competition had shown that a rethink for more cooperation and more public participation had come about".

Mayor election in Moosburg: SPD candidate only just ahead of AfD man

For the rest of the candidate field, there were not many parts left of the vote cake: SPD newcomer Gunnar Marcus (4.15 percent) only managed a wafer-thin lead over AfD man Gerhard-Michael Welter (4.03), City Councilor Jörg Kästl (ÖDP , 3.49) could slightly increase his result compared to the last mayoral election (2.5). The two youngest candidates Philipp Fincke (FDP, 2.98) and Stefan John (Linke, 1.56) come in last.
