In question, the announcement of the suspension of visiting rooms. A de facto suspension since confined families, like the rest of the French, could not go to a remand center to visit the detainees.
However, the administration of the prison administration tried to show tolerance by agreeing for the day to Tuesday that families who came to the visiting rooms could see the detainees. But from Wednesday, it will no longer be possible indeed.
“It is not conceivable to authorize in detention what is prohibited outside the walls. French citizens must submit to strict containment regulations. The detainees are French citizens. The regime cannot be derogatory " , insists Sébastien Nicolas, secretary general of FO Direction Pénitentiaire, who points out that on the other hand " no outdoor activity has been suppressed. Walks are held and even sports meetings outside. We have only removed confined group meetings. ”

We are not detained against supervisors in the face of this epidemic, we are all in the same boat, ” said Wilfried Fonck, national secretary of the supervisors' union. "Everyone must make an effort if the detention is not to get too hard ," he warns.
At the same time, the two unions demand "the delivery of masks promised by the Keeper of the Seals," says Sébastien Nicolas. But also "removal measures for all administrative staff who are not essential to the smooth running of the establishment" , insists Wilfried Fonck.
Another concern is that of sentencing facilities where prisoners sometimes serve very long sentences and for which visits take place on weekends.
