The coronavirus disease (COVID-19, commonly known as Wuhan pneumonia) epidemic continues in 2019, and two confirmed cases were newly added to Macau on Wednesday (18th), accumulating to 17 cases.

The 16th confirmed patient in the local area was a 19-year-old female student studying in the UK. She took a Singapore Airlines flight SQ317 with four students to London from Heathrow Airport on Sunday (15th). The seat number was 64H, and she was transferred to Singapore Airlines the next morning. Flight SQ856 arrived in Hong Kong with seat number 40B. Two of the four classmates who were accompanying were Hong Kong residents and have now returned to Hong Kong. Macau has notified the Hong Kong Department of Health's Health Protection Center to follow up.

The female patient's throat saliva sample was tested for nucleic acid on the afternoon of Wednesday (18th) and was positive for the virus. She was then sent to Peak Hospital for further throat swab testing to confirm the diagnosis. She was diagnosed in the early hours of Thursday (19); she is currently on the top of the mountain. The treatment in the hospital isolation ward was normal and there was no discomfort.

As for the 17th confirmed patient, an 11-year-old boy was the son of the 14th previously confirmed Indonesian housewife. He and his parents arrived in Hong Kong from Jakarta, Indonesia on Cathay Pacific CX718 on Tuesday (17th), with seat number 47F. Then take Jinba to enter via Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port. The father who is currently traveling has fever, and the first test is negative. The test will be performed after 48 hours.
